Yesli graduated from American Military University with a criminal justice degree and earned a degree from Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy.
She was raised in Virginia, where she learned the valuable lessons of hard work, belief in God, and love for the greatest country. She decided to become a police officer after her family experienced a tragedy caused by a mistaken identity by a local gang. Yesli lost one of her dearest friends during that crisis, and her brother sustained severe injuries. Yesli was saddened by the professionalism shown by local law enforcement. To help people in need, she became a police officer.
With the Alexandria Police Department, she began her career as a street officer. Yesli encountered life-or-death situations then, and she left the world of law enforcement for a short period when her family was transferred to South Korea to join her husband’s Army deployment. As she neared, she sensed a threat from Communist North Korea.
Yesli returned to Virginia to become a certified hostage negotiator with the Manassas Park Police Department because of America’s commitment to freedom and human rights. Yesli developed a keen interest in government policies and politics after years of serving in law enforcement. She and her husband were unhappy with the quality of local government services as a homemaker in Prince William County. As a result, they noticed that the citizens’ real estate tax bills needed to match the services and facilities they received.
Because Yesli believes law enforcement is disappearing from the system, she considered entering politics.
She declared her run for an open seat on the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. With 80% of the vote, she won the Republican nomination to endorse and fight for conservative principles. Abigail Spanberger vs. Yesli Vega
Spanberger will face Yesli Vega in the general election for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District on November 8, 2022. Since 2019, Abigail Anne Spanberger has represented Virginia’s 7th congressional District as a U.S. representative.
She was first elected to Congress in 2018 by 50.3% to 48.4% against incumbent David Brat, a Republican representing the north suburbs of Richmond and some exurban territory near Fredericksburg.
In 1971, a Republican represented the 7th District. According to estimates, after redistricting, the District became more Democratic. Using past data from Daily Kos, it was reported in the 2020 presidential election that the redrawn 7th District favored President Joe Biden(D) by 52.6% to 45.8% over Trump (R). New districts have been created to the north of Richmond, excluding suburbs west of Richmond.
The election is expected to alter the partisan balance of the United States House of Representatives in the 118th Congress. Democrats currently hold a majority in the House, and Republicans need to win five districts to gain a majority.
In November, Yesli Vega’s victory would be a major victory for the Republican Party, which needs only a few seats to take control.
