A “Save America” rally will be held this week in Wilmington by former president Donald Trump.
Trump Wilmington Rally will take place at Wilmington International Airport’s Aero Center on Sept. 23. During the campaign, Trump will appear with Ted Budd, who is running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. According to a news release, he plans to “deliver remarks in support” of Budd.
Democrat Cheri Beasley is set to face off against Republican Budd in the general election in November, a candidate Trump previously endorsed. According to the news release, Trump will support the “entire Trump ticket” in North Carolina. Candidates running in this year’s midterm elections have long sought the former president’s endorsement.
About 12% of voters are undecided based on polls conducted over the past month. Budd and Beasley are currently tied in the polls.
It is not the first time the Trump family has been to Port City. The president officially designated Wilmington as the first World War II Heritage City in September 2020. In October 2020, Trump’s daughter-in-law Laura Trump hosted a campaign event in Wilmington ahead of the November election.
During the event, Trump will deliver a speech at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 2 p.m. North Carolina Aero Center is located at 1830 Flightline Road, Wilmington, NC 28401. Online tickets are available for the event. According to the event’s website, there are a limited number of tickets per mobile number.
