There’s not much to say about this gentleman that Burroughs himself did not describe:

On the platform proper squatted an enormous warrior heavily loaded with metal ornaments, gay-colored feathers and beautifully wrought leather trappings set with precious stones. From his shoulders depended a cape of white fur lined with brilliant scarlet silk.

Yep.  I think people tone that back a lot when illustrating him. Not me, no sir.  And as I enjoy trying to add variety and personality to my tharks, I thought you all may like to know I modeled his face after a bulldog.  So there’s that. :)
